One of my favorite and affordable condo communities on the islands is the Merritt at Whitemarsh.
The Merritt is set back off of the beautiful, tree lined Johnny Mercer Boulevard on Whitemarsh Island.
If you're looking for an island condo that's convenient to the beach yet under a 15 minuted drive to Savannah's Historic District then the Merritt at Whitemarsh Condominiums are worth considering. Located on Whitemarsh Island, this gated community is full of amenities including tennis, clubhouse for entertaining, billiard and gaming room, putting green, fitness center, pool and spa, business center and even a car care center.
The lush landscaping and Caribbean colors give The Merritt at Whitemarsh a tranquil resort feeling.
Many units offer wide crown molding, 12 foot ceilings, fireplaces and screened porches. The views include wooded, garden and marsh view. Prices are affordable for full time living or a vacation or investment home and usually range from around 80,000 for one bedroom / one bath condos to the low 100s for a 2 bedroom 2 bath condo and the between 150,000 to 205,000 for over 1400 sq. ft. 3 bedroom / 2 bath condos.
There's plenty of shopping and restaurants nearby on both Whitemarsh and Wilmington Islands in less than a ten minute drive and less than 15 minutes to Savannah's Victory Square shopping center. If you feel like a day at the beach, Tybee Island is a short 15 minute drive away. If you are attending SCAD ( The Savannah College of Art and Design, then The Merritt at Whitemarsh offers a convenient and affordable alternative to the faster pace of downtown.
